Sewer and Drain Repair Specialists

Sewer & Drain Repair Specialists was started back in 2006 and has been a leader in Cheyenne for

bringing updated solutions to customers sewer problems. The old way of replacing a sewer was to dig a

trench from the house to the city main. Pretty much destroying yards and landscaping. There are better

ways to replace a sewer these days with minimal impact to the landscaping. Epoxy liners work in certain

situations, but are very limited because it uses the old sewer for the mold. So the liner takes the shape of

the old sewer. The liner is also hard to install and has a limited life span. The way we like to replace

sewers most of the time is through a process called pipe bursting, where we have a machine that physical

pulls a new pipe through the old pipe. As long as the old pipe has good grade and we can get a cable

through it, it does not matter what condition the old sewer is in. You can even up size the pipe if need be,

where with a liner it shrinks the inside diameter of the pipe. The pipe bursting is a bit more work to install

than the liner, but the end result is worth the extra work. The pipe material used for pipe bursting is way

more durable and will last much longer than the liner. I am not against lining a sewer if that is the best

solution, but I favor the pipe bursting method for many reasons. We started off lining sewers in the

beginning, but switched over to more pipe bursting mainly because of all the problems we encountered

when we were lining.

One of the other things that has been huge in the world of sewer repair is the invention of sewer cameras

and locating equipment. When I first started we would pretty much have to make an educated guess on

where the sewer is at and just start digging up yards and streets until we found it. That method is long

gone. Now we stick a camera down the sewer and can locate the exact location and dig a precise hole

down to the pipe. Plus we are also able to locate other buried utilities before we start, avoiding potential

safety hazards and extra damage to underground infrastructure.

One thing that really bothered me was the amount of damage we would do in order to replace a sewer.

When I worked for my dad and we would trench a sewer across a yard the hole yard would be

destroyed. So when I do have to dig in a yard I try my best to do as little damage as possible. We put

down a tarp to pile the dirt on, then when we are done you can't even tell there was a huge pile of dirt

sitting there. There is still some damage to the yard where we actually have to dig the hole or trench, but

it's pretty minimal. In some cases, if there is a clean out that we can stick our patch system down, we don't

have to do any digging.
